What's The Song In The Kingsman: The Golden Circle Trailer?

If you don't know the song in the trailer for Kingsman: The Golden Circle, don't tell your grandfather.

It's "My Way," the signature song of Frank Sinatra, and you've undoubtedly heard it if you've ever listened to oldies radio or stepped within a six-mile radius of New York City. And although the song seems inherently American, it actually makes a lot of sense for the Kingsman sequel.

Set to the music of a 1967 French song called "Comme d'habitude," Paul Anka adapted it and wrote the lyrics especially with Sinatra in mind after Ol' Blue Eyes told him he was ready to quit the business.

In 1969, Sinatra released his version of the song on the album of the same name, and it reached No. 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 2 on the Easy Listening chart. But it took on a life of its own in the U.K., where the single spent a record 75 weeks in the Top 40, reaching all the way into the fall of 1971.

Back in 2005, The Guardian reported that the single was the most popular contemporary song played at British funerals, sending off 80,000 Britons each year. J.K. Rowling even said that it would've been played at Dumbledore's funeral.

Considering that the specter of Colin Firth's Harry Hart hangs over the beginning of the trailer, it's especially fitting. Of course, it's revealed at the end that Harry might not be so long-gone after all.

The Golden Circle will also bring together the spies of the British Kingsman organization (including Taron Egerton as Eggsy, who definitely does things his way) with American counterparts from the Statesman (like Channing Tatum as Tequila and Jeff Bridges as Champ). And don't forget that the Sid Vicious cover of the song plays during the end credits of Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas, so the Sinatra hit (beloved and iconic on both sides of the pond) makes for an especially poignant Kingsman soundtrack on a couple different levels.
