Eva Green In Talks For Tim Burton's Live-Action Dumbo Remake

Tim Burton's live-action Dumbo remake may be getting a whole lot creepier. According to Deadline, Penny Dreadful star Eva Green is currently in talks to join the cast of the Alice in Wonderland director's take on the classic tale.

Green is reportedly in early discussions to play one of the three main adult roles in the movie, which Disney is hoping to begin filming soon. Will Smith had previously been reported as being in talks to star, but they broke down in February due to salary and scheduling issues. According to Variety, a deal for Chris Pine to play the male lead also recently fell apart.

This wouldn't be Green's first time working with Burton– she has also starred in the director's Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children and Dark Shadows. Green earned a Golden Globe nomination in 2016 for her role on the Showtime horror series Penny Dreadful, and the former Bond girl is also known for The Golden Compass, 300: Rise of an Empire, and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

The original Dumbo cartoon, released in 1941, won an Academy Award for best score and was also nominated for best original song for "Baby Mine." The Ring's Ehren Kruger penned the script for the live-action remake; no details have been made available on how closely it sticks to the original.
