You Will Hear Veronica Sing Again On Riverdale

Camila Mendes made her musical debut on Thursday night's Riverdale, and the actress says that won't be the last time you get to hear her pipes.

Mendes' Veronica took over for the Pussycats' Val this week when she decided to leave the band to sing with Archie at the variety show (causing Archie to, in typical Archie fashion, immediately ditch his planned singing parter Veronica). In the end, Val rejoined the Pussycats, making the group a foursome during their performance of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love," which you can watch above.

Mendes said in an interview with ComicBook.com that Veronica singing wasn't always in the cards, but that she did enjoy the experience. "They didn't ask me if I could sing when I got the role, that was just something that sort of happened as we went," she said. "But [creator] Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa] quickly realized that almost this entire cast is musical, so it's like why not take advantage of that?"

"I've had a lot of sessions in the studio, and that has been super fun," she added. "I've never done that before, and making music on the show is another added benefit."

Mendes teased that, while the Pussycats are now back down to their original three, Veronica will also perform at Homecoming (which, at Riverdale High, is sure to be quite an experience) and in one of the final episodes of the season.

Riverdale airs on Thursdays at 9 p.m. on The CW. See how the cast should really look based on the comics.
