Where Is Renee Biran From My 600-Lb Life Now?

"My 600-lb Life" takes a look at the lives of those struggling with obesity, who aim to drop the pounds and live healthier and happier. Entering its participants into a tough regime of diet control, exercise, and lifestyle changes, the TLC reality show is headed up by specialist weight-loss surgeon Dr. Nowzaradan – dubbed Dr. Now by many of his patients.

As its title suggests, the show caters to those Dr. Now calls "the super-morbidly obese," people weighing over 600 pounds. Although 42.4% of Americans are obese – according to a 2020 report by the Trust for America's Health - the minority in the 600-plus-pound bracket is in imminent danger due to their weight. Since the series began in 2012, scores of participants have turned to "My 600-lb Life" in the hope of finally achieving weight loss that could be life-saving.

Many wrestle with serious issues underlying their obesity problems, from debilitating ill-health to traumatic pasts. Since the show can offer only a brief snapshot of their journeys, we're often left wondering what happened to them after the cameras stopped rolling.

Renee Biran was one of these memorable candidates. As reported by Express Digest, her weight gain got out of hand when she began fetish modeling for viewers who paid to watch her eat. Forced to move in with her children and relying on them for daily care, she hoped "My 600-lb Life" could help her turn things around. But where is she now?

There's good news and bad news

Since weighing in on "My 600-lb Life" at 631 pounds, Biran has successfully gotten her weight down to 381 pounds, as reported by The Cinemaholic. This loss of roughly 250 pounds is thanks in part to gastric bypass surgery, which she underwent after losing enough weight to do so safely.

However, misfortune was hot on the heels of her success. As Screen Rant reports, she was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome in early 2019 – an unusual and debilitating autoimmune disorder. This dashed her hopes of further surgery to remove the excess skin left over after she lost weight and led her to enter a nursing home.

Despite this turmoil and disappointment, her social media activity hints at a silver lining. A Facebook post in May 2019 showed her in front of a Las Vegas sign, alongside a man tagged as Ronnie Earl Roden with the joyful caption, "Hey baby lets go to Vegas, Kiss the single life goodbyeee". So it looks like she could have gotten hitched! Or at the very least a loving partner may have entered her life.

Updates on Biran's life since 2019 have been relatively scant. Though one comment on a Facebook photo posted on January 2nd suggests she may be in a rehab center, a common destination for those recovering from weight loss surgery and seeking rehabilitation toward a long-term healthier lifestyle. Wherever she may be, we wish her all the best on that journey.
