Marvel Fans Are Loving Anthony Mackie's MTV Movie And TV Awards Win

An award that you're not going to find at the Oscars or Emmys is that of "Best Hero," but when it comes to the MTV Movie and TV Awards, it is considered to be one of the biggest honors of the night. Past winners include Christian Bale (for "Batman Begins"), Robert Downey Jr. (as Iron Man in "Avengers: Endgame"), and Jennifer Lawrence (as Katniss Everdeen in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2"), to name a few. This year, the category was stacked with impressive nominees from the "Star Wars," Marvel, and DC cinematic universes. Gal Gadot, Anthony Mackie, Pedro Pascal, Teyonah Parris, and Jack Quaid were all voted upon by MTV fans and viewers to be named 2021's Best Hero.

The winner, in the end, was Anthony Mackie, who arrived in-person to accept the award, opening up the evening with a bang. The star of "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" thanked the director of the hit Disney+ series, Kari Skogland, as well as the rest of the cast and the crew.

Marvel fans were hyped, to say the least, to see their brand new Captain America accept the award for Best Hero — especially since we know he'll be instrumental in the MCU moving forward. Twitter absolutely lit up after Mackie's win, as all of Marvel fandom praised the actor.

A common sentiment among MCU fans was that Mackie's win was very much "deserved," as many hailed their new Cap.

"Anthony Mackie winning BEST HERO was inevitable. CAPTAIN AMERICA don't play," another excited fan tweeted out after the win. The MCU fandom has clearly welcomed their new Captain America with open arms, as they praised his recent performance in the Disney+ series. "ANTHONY MACKIE WINNING BEST HERO FOR CAPTAIN AMERICA IS SO TRUE," a separate fan wrote on the platform. "Anthony mackie i am so proud of you. you deserve best hero so much," another fan tweeted in support.

Fans can look forward to seeing more of Mackie as Captain America, as he transitions from being a sidekick into one of the MCU's biggest leaders. Marvel has already announced that a Mackie-starring "Captain America 4" is now being developed, so stay tuned to Looper for future updates about this award-winning hero.
