No, Conor McGregor Is Not Going To Be On Game Of Thrones
Sorry, Game of Thrones fans: UFC star Conor McGregor won't be stopping by Westeros anytime soon.
Rumors started swirling last month about the professional fighter taking a spot on the HBO show, with many outlets reporting that he would have a small role as a pirate on Euron Greyjoy's ship Silence. However, McGregor shut down those rumors during an interview with the Good Times Network Variety Channel on Saturday.
"That was everywhere and I've never even heard about it!" McGregor said.
According to McGregor, he was approached by UFC President Dana White right after he beat Nate Diaz at UFC 202.
"I'm banged up, my shin's in a heap, I've been kicking his knee's straight for 25 minutes, my leg's in bits, and he's trying to offer me a Game of Thrones role," he said. "And I'm looking at him saying, 'Listen, come at me with sh– I want to hear, I'm not trying to be in show business, I'm trying to be in the fight business. Come at me with a real number to fight again.' So that was the only time I ever heard the words Games of Thrones. And then it went everywhere like months later! So I don't know where that came from. But I've never been in contact with nobody from Game of Thrones and now I'm starring in Game of f—ing Thrones!"
"Don't believe everything you hear," he concluded.
Even though McGregor won't be appearing on Game of Thrones season seven, the season still looks like its shaping up to be a doozy. Read up on everything we know so far.
