Here's Who Might Be Playing Secret Invasion's Main Villain

In December 2020, Disney announced a handful of new original series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at its annual Investor Day event. The news was shocking, considering the first batch of MCU shows like WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier hadn't even hit the streaming service yet. To fans' excitement, it was revealed that four new shows were being added to the lengthy docket. In addition to Armor Wars, Ironheart, and I Am Groot, Secret Invasion will be among the new Disney+ original series. The show will star Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, whose involvement makes sense, as he is currently in space working with the Skrulls, the alien shapeshifter race the Secret Invasion comic book stories are based around.

Ben Mendelsohn was also confirmed to return as the lovable Skrull Talos, who audiences first met in 2019's Captain Marvel. There had been no word on a potential villain casting for a few months, but it looks like Secret Invasion might have just cast its big bad.

One Night In Miami's Kingsley Ben-Adir has signed on for Secret Invasion

Variety broke the news on March 15 that One Night in Miami star Kingsley Ben-Adir had joined the cast of Secret Invasion. Specifics for Ben-Adir's character were not confirmed, but Variety reported that sources indicated he would be portraying a main villain. Ben-Adir is quite the addition to the Secret Invasion team, having built a solid resume over the past five years. The actor starred in Netflix's popular series, The OA, before it was canceled, as well as the BBC-turned-Netflix mega-hit Peaky Blinders. Ben-Adir also portrayed President Barack Obama in the critically acclaimed miniseries The Comey Rule, in addition to a short-lived run on Hulu's High Fidelity, a series that received a high amount of praise, but didn't capture the viewership it needed in order to get renewed.

Secret Invasion won't be the first Disney+ project for Ben-Adir, however; he nabbed a role in one of the streaming service's first original films, Noelle. The 2019 Christmas flick saw the actor as a private investigator who befriended Anna Kendrick's title character.
