How Old The Characters On Parks And Recreation Really Were

From 2009 to 2015, the NBC comedy series Parks and Recreation enchanted fans with its gut-busting comedy and heart-touching storylines. Though the show aired for six years and mostly took place during the same time in which it was released, the last episode of the series shows audiences a series of time-skips. Each hop forward into the future showcases another segment in the ongoing and illustrious lives of our favorite characters. Logically, of course, they age with each consecutive jump too.

The natural question after seeing these jumps in time is: "How old are they really after all these years?" Fortunately, determining the age of some characters is incredibly easy. Oftentimes the show will state it outright or leave enough clues for viewers to figure it out themselves. The process is slightly more arduous for other characters whose ages are rarely discussed over the lifetime of the series. With that in mind, here's the age of every major Parks and Recreation character.

How old are the fan-favorite couples in Parks and Recreation?

According to Screen Rant, protagonist Leslie Knope is aged 72 by the year 2048. Meanwhile, her husband Ben Wyatt would be roughly the same age. In Ben's season 2 debut, he was revealed to be 18 when he became the mayor of his hometown in 1993. Some simple math would put his age at around 73 in 2048, roughly equal to that of Leslie's age.

Andy Dwyer and April Ludgate, another pair of lovebirds in the series, have their ages laid out in a much more obvious manner. During the finale of the second season, Andy questions if April refuses to date him because of their age difference. At the time, he states their ages were 21 and 29. And by 2048 they would be 59 and 67 respectively.

Chris Traeger and Ann Perkins, the final popular couple from the show, have a similar age gap to that of Andy and April. In season 3, Chris reveals to Dr. Harris that he is 44 years old. This would put him at the distinguished age of 80 once the series wraps up in 2048. Meanwhile, there are very few places in the show where Ann's official age is alluded to. However, it may be a safe assumption that she is in a similar age bracket as Andy, since the two dated in the first season. Given that both of them have a history of dating outside this bracket, however, makes the true number anyone's guess.

How old are the other characters in Parks and Recreation?

We know from the series finale, which ends in the year 2048, that Garry/Jerry Gergich dies at the ripe old age of 100. At least, that's what his age probably was. In true Parks and Recreation fashion, the people of Pawnee simply can't get his information right. And while his gravestone marks the years he lived, it also spells his name wrong. So, it could easily be off about the year he was born as well.

The rest of the Parks and Recreation cast are unfortunate wild cards. Fans can expect to see their ages posted on the show's fan-run wiki. However, all but one of them has any solid reference to back up their supposed ages. Meanwhile, the show itself is not very forthcoming about such information. It's likely that viewers are expected to infer a characters' age based on their actors' ages and mannerisms. For instance, Ron Swanson and Donna Meagle easily fit the bill of people in their 40s or 50s prior to 2048. Meanwhile, Tom has the exuberance of someone in their early 30s.
