Why Billy From WandaVision Looks So Familiar

Contains spoilers for WandaVision

WandaVision has been a roller coaster of emotions and references. The show is full of Easter eggs that call back to past Marvel Cinematic Universe adventures, classic sitcoms, and the Marvel multiverse at large. One of the latest references comes from Wanda Maximoff's twins, Billy and Tommy.

Of course, the mere existence of Billy and Tommy raises a bunch of questions. How did Wanda give birth to them so quickly? How did Wanda even birth them since Vision is an android? Will Billy and Tommy follow in the paths of their comic counterparts and become the superheroes Wiccan and Speed, respectively — and/or be revealed as soul fragments of Marvel's Satan stand-in Mephisto? And most important of all, why does Billy's actor look so familiar?

While we probably can't answer most of these questions for quite a while, the final one is easy enough, especially if you've paid attention to the latest horror films and shows.

Billy is played by Julian Hilliard

It seems like only yesterday that Wanda gave birth to Billy and Tommy. Given how WandaVision plays musical chairs with reality, she might as well have. But in flagrant disregard of the laws of nature, the twins have already grown into bright-eyed boys. Kids grow up so quickly, don't they? But the growth spurts of Billy and Tommy are downright ridiculous. What isn't ridiculous, however, is the casting logic behind Billy's current actor.

For the moment, Billy is played by Julian Hilliard. He has starred in The Haunting of Hill House, Color Out of Space, and Penny Dreadful: City of Angels. Hilliard is also set to appear in The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.

Since WandaVision spices up its sitcom satire with mild horror elements, it makes sense that Julian Hilliard is currently filling Billy's technicolor sneakers. Despite his young age, Hilliard has a lot of experience playing scared children in terrifying scenarios. However, since Billy has already been through several actors who represent the character at different ages, it's probably only a matter of time until someone else fills the role.
