IMDb's Most Popular Actor Of 2020 Isn't Who You'd Think

The most popular actor of 2020 — as determined by IMDb — might come as a pretty big surprise.

According to The Wrap, IMDb has compiled their list of the year's biggest stars, and surprisingly, Knives Out breakout Ana de Armas topped their list of 2020's most popular performers.

Ozark star Julia Garner, who has scooped up several awards for her role on the Netflix original, snagged the second place spot, and The Witcher ingenue Anya Chalotra came in at number three. Fourth place went to Stranger Things favorite Millie Bobby Brown, who has made her character, Eleven, one of the most beloved characters in recent television history. The Boys' superheroine Starlight, Erin Moriarty, came in at fifth place, with Academy Award nominee and Birds of Prey headliner Margot Robbie taking sixth place. In the back half of the list, The Umbrella Academy actor Aidan Gallagher landed in seventh place, followed by Queen's Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy in eighth place and Dead to Me performer and veteran TV staple Linda Cardellini in ninth place. Finally, Witcher star Henry Cavill rounded out the list in tenth place.

It might come as a surprise that de Armas topped this competitive list, but the starlet is just getting started, despite some delayed films in 2020. Here's why Ana de Armas' star power is about to get even bigger.

Ana de Armas' biggest projects were delayed throughout 2020

After standing out from the star-studded cast of Rian Johnson's whodunit Knives Out, de Armas was poised to have a pretty amazing 2020... until COVID-19 swept the globe, delaying pretty much all of her major projects.

De Armas' first high-profile project of 2020, The Night Clerk, was released in February of 2020 before heading to Netflix in June, but unfortunately, her biggest film is still on the backburner. De Armas was set to appear alongside Daniel Craig in his final Bond film, No Time to Die, but unfortunately, COVID-19 has delayed the movie's release until April 2021, nearly a year after its intended theatrical debut.

Unfortunately, de Armas' next big project, Deep Water, is also delayed until 2021 (from its intended release date of November 2020), and her Marilyn Monroe biopic, Blonde hasn't yet begun filming. Despite all of these setbacks, de Armas is definitely poised to take over Hollywood — between her stint as a Bond girl and her take on Monroe — and whenever de Armas' films do come out, there's no question that she'll be more in demand than ever.
