Watch The Official Trailer For Underworld: Blood Wars

If you thought Kate Beckinsale's Selene was icy before, just wait until you see her now that her kid is in danger.

Just moments after Beckinsale and director Anna Foerster appeared during a panel at New York Comic Con, Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment released the official trailer for Underworld: Blood Wars.

According to the synopsis, Beckinsale returns as the vampire death dealer Selene, but she's running out of allies. She'll need to turn to David (Theo James, reprising his role from 2012's Underworld: Awakening), to help save her daughter and finally put an end to the war between Lycans and the vampires who betrayed her.

The film also stars Tobias Menzies (Rome), Lara Pulver (Sherlock), and Charles Dance (Game of Thrones).

Deadline reports that Beckinsale opened up at Comic Con about working with a female director for the first time in the series. "I'm all about as many vaginas being involved as possible," she joked. "I don't think that gender has anything to do with whether you're a good director or a bad director... I'm hoping in a few years the conversation about having a female director being unusual will be unusual."

Underworld: Blood Wars will arrive in theaters Jan. 6, 2017. It's one of the movies coming up in the new year that we think you won't want to miss.
