Passengers: Chris Pratt And Jennifer Lawrence Heat Up Outer Space In First Trailer

The cold vacuum of space has never looked quite this hot.

Sony released the first official trailer for Passengers, the upcoming sci-fi romance starring Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence, and the only thing more explosive than their chemistry is the intriguing story by writer Jon Spaihts (Prometheus, Doctor Strange).

According to the official synopsis (via Entertainment Weekly), Jim (Pratt) and Aurora (Lawrence) are aboard a luxury spaceship with 5,000 others on their way to a new colony when the pair awake from suspended animation 90 years too early. While that affords them plenty of room (and time) to form a relationship, it becomes clear that something has gone horribly wrong with the malfunctioning ship.

The only other "person" we see in the trailer is a robotic bartender played by Michael Sheen (Masters of Sex), but the cast also includes Laurence Fishburne, Andy Garcia, and Aurora Perrineau. Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game) directs.

Passengers will arrive in theaters Dec. 21. Meanwhile, check out key Chris Pratt performances you might not have seen and one of Jennifer Lawrence's early roles that she probably hopes you missed.
