The Complete God Emperor Doom Story Explained
Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom steps into the forefront of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in "Avengers: Doomsday." Since the movie's follow-up will be called "Avengers: Secret Wars," there's a reasonable chance that we'll be seeing a particular version of the character at some point down the line: God Emperor Doom. Watch Looper's video above to get a sense of how powerful this version of Doom is, and how his story unfolds in the comics.
As the most powerful versions of Doctor Doom go, God Emperor Doom from the 2015 "Secret Wars" comic event is a pretty dangerous guy. Doom gets these particular powers by figuring out that the incursions that cause the collapse of the Multiverse are connected to the powerful Molecule Man, whom he collaborates with to defeat the destructive beings known as Beyonders. Things get pretty complicated, but in the end, Doom gets his armored mitts on the Beyonders' powers, and becomes effectively omnipotent.
We might see God Emperor Doom in the MCU soon
God Emperor Doom is effectively Doctor Doom, a noted megalomaniac, with all the power he personally considers himself worthy of having. In the comics, his sole weakness is that his powers are effectively tied to Molecule Man — a character who's yet to make an appearance in the MCU. His biggest feat is creating and running Battleworld, a planet containing all that remains in the Marvel universe after the incursions wiped off the multiverse.
Of course, all of this may end up playing out radically differently in the MCU, but all signs point toward some version of this Doom. Given that the ending of "Avengers: Endgame Encore" confirmed that the Multiverse is collapsing and we know "Secret Wars" is coming, it's good to know as much about God Emperor Doom as possible before watching "Avengers: Doomsday." Looper's video above is a perfect way to get all the information you need about the character.
