Guy Gardner's Most Humiliating Moments As A Green Lantern
Guy Gardner is arguably more famous now than he's ever been. His recent comics version is too overpowered for the DC Universe, and Nathan Fillion's iteration is well on his way to become the kind of character who keeps turning up just about everywhere in the franchise. This is actually a pretty good move, because while Guy isn't exactly comic relief, he's known for his uncanny ability to end up in embarrassing situations that provide some much-needed levity for any given project. Watch Looper's video above to relive some of the character's most humiliating moments.
From his infamous bowl cut to his hilariously confrontational personality, Guy is a character who seems custom designed to annoy the audience just enough so that when he inevitably gets his, it will come across as joyously cathartic. He's a hero, sure — but he's just obnoxious enough to serve as a punching bag whenever one is needed.
The many humiliations of Guy Gardner
Like any superhero worth their salt, Guy Gardner has done plenty of good things over the course of his career. However, his abrasive personality and antihero tendencies have often led him on a collision course with other heroes, and in such situations, karma has often chosen to side with whoever isn't named Guy Gardner.
Over the years, Guy has been on the receiving end of comic book beatdowns from the likes of Batman and fellow Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart. His DCU version has been relegated to a de facto promo person who exists to market the Green Lantern Corps agenda on Earth in the wake of Hal Jordan's (Kyle Chandler) disgrace, and John very much calls Guy out on this during the endgame of "Lanterns" Season 1. While the untold truth of Guy Gardner features plenty of heroics, excitement, and even tragedy, such humiliations are a recurring issue in the character's history — and Looper's video above will let you know all about them.
