Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 Concept Art Reveals New Monster

Rogue One isn't the only space-based sequel we can't wait to see. Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set for release next spring, and from the look of new concept art, Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and the crew might have their hands full.

Director James Gunn posted a preview of the art in the new issue of Empire, and the image shows the gang locked in an intergalactic battle with a massive, tentacled monster. Although Groot seems to be having a good enough time, Star-Lord proves that you've sometimes got to roll your sleeves up–even in the middle of space.

While the new creature definitely looks formidable, it's not clear if the Guardians will encounter it in the movie. We already know they'll have to take on the fiendish Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki), and there's always the Ravagers to deal with.

We'll likely have to wait to find out when the movie premieres on May 5, 2017. And there's a new, interesting twist: Guardians of the Galaxy will soon be part of the MCU–which means we could see any number of superheroes make a cameo before everyone shows up in 2018's Avengers: Infinity War.
