The Colors Of DC's Lantern Corps And What They Mean, Explained
As "Lanterns" is giving the DC Universe a crash course in Green Lantern lore, audiences have received a taste of the show's interpretation of the history of the Green Lantern Corps. With the introduction of popular DC villain Sinestro (Ulrich Thomsen), the show has also stealthily confirmed that the Lanterns' green power ring isn't the only color in the DC Universe's power spectrum. A major part of Sinestro's comic book backstory is his corruption by yellow fear energy, which makes him a Yellow Lantern and causes him to found his own Sinestro Corps. "Lanterns" refers to the conflict between him and the Guardians of the Universe, and while it doesn't explicitly dwell on it, his very presence indicates that the full Emotional Electromagnetic Spectrum is in play in the DC Universe — and that there are several powers and colors beyond Sinestro's yellow fear and the Green Lantern Corps' green willpower.

The Emotional Electromagnetic Spectrum is indeed far larger than the two aforementioned colors, though green in particular understandably gets top billing. There are no fewer than nine different colors on the spectrum. In addition, there's a black spectrum of death and an invisible spectrum that acts as a counterbalance to the visible one.
All of the colors in the Spectrum correspond to a particular emotion, from red rage to grey sorrow. They also have their own Lantern Corps of sorts, which have their own spins on the power rings and the abilities that they grant. It can be difficult to place many of these colors firmly on the side of good or evil, given that they are primal forces. However, some — like the Green Lanterns of willpower and the Blue Lanterns of hope — are understandably more hard-coded to play nice than the others.
