Where You've Seen Bryan From 2026's Resident Evil Before

The first reactions for Zach Cregger's "Resident Evil" weren't just positive. Critics praised the bloody, chaotic good time that is "Resident Evil" for solidifying Austin Abrams as a leading man. The film sees Abrams play Bryan, a medical courier who, on a seemingly routine delivery mission to Raccoon City, gets swept up into a nightmare of undead madness. Abrams unflinchingly portrays an everyman always scared out of his wits who can't properly fire a gun if (and when) his life depends on it. It's an amusing and endearing performance deftly highlighting how terrifying this world is.

If Abrams looks familiar to "Resident Evil" viewers, then it's worth remembering this isn't the first time this actor and Cregger have collaborated. In Cregger's 2025 "Weapons," Abrams played unforgettable scene-stealer junkie James. Before portraying one of the lead roles of that ensemble project, Abrams took off as Ethan Daley across the first two "Euphoria" seasons.

In a short period of time, Abrams has already had prominent roles in several high-profile projects across a multitude of genres. Still, for some "Resident Evil" moviegoers, Austin Abrams' familiarity may go beyond his Zach Cregger and "Euphoria" exploits.

Austin Abrams began in supporting roles like "The Kings of Summer" and "Gangster Squad." Soon, he began inching his way to the spotlight, including playing the second most prominent character in the 2017 Ben Stiller title "Brad's Status." By 2019, for many audience members, Tommy from 2019's "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" likely looked mighty familiar thanks to Abrams' prior recurring work on "The Walking Dead."

At the dawn of the 2020s, Abrams anchored one of the two titular roles in the Netflix program "Dash & Lily." Though it lasted only a season, this endeavor further normalized Austin Abrams being a top-billed performer. Once his main role in the 2nd "Euphoria" season was finished, Abrams has (save for a recurring part on 2024's "Penelope") mostly focused on films. That's included playing the pivotal role of Kid in the 2024 Jon Watts directorial effort "Wolfs." Unfortunately, despite Abrams getting the valuable experience of working with George Clooney and Brad Pitt, the dull, uninspired action comedy "Wolfs" didn't set the world on fire. 

Next up, Abrams will be portraying the lead character in "Whalefall." Clearly, this actor should be familiar given how many big and small screen projects he's appeared in.
