Jake Gyllenhaal, Jessica Chastain cast in The Division movie

While everyone else is grabbing the coveted roles of superheroes (or super-villains), Jake Gyllenhaal is cornering the market on video game characters.

The star of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010) has signed on for a part in the big screen adaptation of the Ubisoft game Tom Clancy's The Division. This time, however, he'll be joined by Oscar-nominated actress Jessica Chastain, although their characters have not yet been announced.

The game is set during the aftermath of a smallpox pandemic in New York City and an agent of the Strategic Homeland Division (aka "The Division") is tasked with rebuilding operations in Manhattan while investigating the effects of the outbreak. Released last spring, The Division had the biggest first week ever for a new video game franchise, according to Ubisoft. "

In addition to starring in the movie, both Gyllenhaal and Chastain will be a part of the development process with their production companies, Nine Stories and Freckle Films.
