Will Kat Dennings Return As Darcy In Thor: Love And Thunder?

As far as secondary, non-superhero characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe go, Kat Dennings' Darcy Lewis from Thor and Thor: The Dark World is more memorable than most. The assistant to Natalie Portman's astrophysicist Jane Foster and an intern for Stellan Skarsgård's Dr. Erik Selvig, Darcy won over fans with her impulsivity, her sense of humor, and her intelligence. Though Darcy was missing from Thor: Ragnarok, the third Marvel flick featuring Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder, many fans have wondered whether she'll make a return in the upcoming fourth Thor movie.

Will Kat Dennings return as Darcy in Thor: Love and Thunder? We've got the answer... which isn't exactly concrete.

According to Dennings herself, it's still a mystery whether she'll be a part of Thor: Love and Thunder. The actress admitted to ComicBook.com during a July 2019 interview that she hasn't spoken with anyone at Marvel about the film: "No one has talked to me, and even if they had, I definitely couldn't say anything about it."

She then gushed about the prospect of collaborating with writer-director Taika Waititi, who changed the whole dang Marvel game with Thor: Ragnarok and is looking to do the same with Thor: Love and Thunder

"Oh my God, I am such a huge fan of his. What We Do in the Shadows, one my favorite movies ever. So it would be an honor to work with him," said Dennings, again reiterating that she has "no info" about possibly reprising her role as Darcy in the new movie.

From our vantage point, it's pretty plausible that Dennings might return as Darcy in Thor: Love and Thunder — scheduled to hit theaters and round out Phase 4 of the MCU on November 5, 2021 — when taking into account what the film focuses on.

Love and Thunder will pick up after the events of Avengers: Endgame, which saw Thor take on (and embrace) a plumper physique following a five-year time jump in which he grieved the death of his brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and the loss of the billions of people Thanos (Josh Brolin) dusted at the end of Avengers: Infinity WarEndgame also included a scene in which Thor passes on the kingship of New Asgard to Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), who will be searching in Love and Thunder for a queen to rule by her side. Many believe that royal will be none other than Jane Foster — Thor's former flame, Darcy's former boss, and the newest iteration of Thor

That's right: Jane Foster will become the Mighty Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder. So if Portman is coming back to the Thor franchise in a huge way, there's a good chance that her former assistant might re-join the fold as well. Darcy would surely add some extra hilarity to the already dynamic duo of Thor and Valkyrie, could help break the ice between Jane and Thor (who haven't spoken in years now), and might serve as the bridge between Thor's past and present. And who knows? Maybe Darcy will become a member of New Asgard's royal council, advising King Valkyrie and Queen Jane and ensuring that the kingdom's bars always have plenty of beer on tap for Bro Thor

As much sense as a Dennings-as-Darcy return makes, we won't know for sure whether she'll be in Thor: Love and Thunder until someone at Marvel says so themselves.
