How Many Episodes Could Demon Slayer Season 3 Have?

As the highly anticipated Swordsmith Village Arc of "Demon Slayer" continues its action-packed run, things have gotten more and more intense with each passing week. From Tanjiro (Natsuki Hanae/Zach Aguilar) narrowly missing his chance to behead Hantengu (Toshio Furukawa/Christopher Corey Smith) to Muichiro (Kengo Kawanishi/Griffin Burns) almost drowning in Gyokko's (Kosuke Toriumi/Brent Mukai) water trap, this season has featured plenty of suspenseful moments.

Still, as the arc continues to build toward its exciting conclusion, many aspiring Hashira are likely wondering how many episodes there will actually be in the third season of "Demon Slayer." After all, the run of episodes in the hit shonen series has been far from consistent thus far.

While Season 1 came packed with a satisfying 26 episodes, the "Mugen Train" movie was then expanded into seven episodes to set up Season 2, which featured 11 episodes. Though few fans are expecting a return to the supersized Season 1 count of "Demon Slayer" episodes, there is some speculation as to whether Season 3 will feature 11 or 12 episodes.

Could there be a 12th episode of Demon Slayer Season 3?

Considering that Season 3 "Demon Slayer" is named for its manga arc, much like Season 2 was, it makes sense to speculate that this run of episodes will only be covering the events of its manga counterpart. With that in mind, the issue count for the manga puts the two pretty close, with the Entertainment District Arc boasting 28 issues and the Swordsmith Village Arc containing 30.

So, the short answer is that "Demon Slayer" could easily wrap up its third season in its 11th episode, just like Season 2 did. However, being that there are two extra issues to cover this time around, Ufotable, who animates the series, might choose to go one episode longer in this instance to better pay off the events of its source material.

Still, being that the first episode of Season 3 was already supersized, essentially making it two episodes in one, the safest bet is that the latest season of "Demon Slayer" will wrap up with Episode 11. With both Gyokko and Hantengu still alive, this means that the season will likely end with all of the Hashira working together to subdue the two demons at once, as was the case at the end of Season 2.

What still needs to happen in Demon Slayer Season 3?

All the same, the hype for the arrival of the Love Hashira, Mitsuri (Kana Hanazawa/Kira Buckland), has been intense this season, and she hasn't really done much yet aside from flirting with Tanjiro and rescuing some villagers. For that reason, we can probably expect that she will be leaping into action to do some pretty spectacular stuff in the remaining episodes of "Demon Slayer" Season 3.

Despite the reveal of his incredible powers, Genya (Nobuhiko Okamoto/Zeno Robinson) has also been sidelined for the last few episodes and should be getting back into the fight before Season 3 wraps up. This is without even addressing Nezuko (Akari Kito/Abby Trott), who has barely been in the last few episodes, and Zenitsu (Hiro Shimono/Aleks Le) and Inosuke (Yoshitsuga Matsuoka/Bryce Papenbrook), who only appeared briefly in the season premiere.

With this many plates spinning at the moment, regardless of whether there will be 11 or 12 episodes in Season 3 of "Demon Slayer," there are plenty of great moments for fans to anticipate. Furthermore, considering how close we are to the Final Battle Arc of the series, things are bound to get more exciting than ever as Season 3 comes to a close.
