Here's When You Can Stream Avatar: The Way Of Water On Max
Max is an upcoming streaming platform from the team at Warner Bros. Discovery that is scheduled to launch on May 23, 2023 — combining HBO Max and Discovery+ under the same label. As if adding this enormous swell of new content to the service wasn't enough, Max is also set to receive streaming rights for one of the biggest blockbusters of 2022: "Avatar: The Way of Water."
In a public relation announcement from Warner Bros. Discovery, it was announced that "Avatar: The Way of Water" would be joining Max's streaming catalog on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, the same day that it will also arrive on a competing streamer — Disney+. "Avatar: The Way of Water" was the highest-grossing film of 2023 with $2.32 billion earned at the global box office, also making it the third highest-grossing film of all time. As such there's no question that "The Way of Water" is one of the most impressive and exciting additions to the new Max streaming service, augmenting what is already one of the most prolific collections of film and television series in all of streaming.
HBO Max subscribers will have immediate access to the service and the movie
Although we don't know exactly what time "Avatar: The Way of Water" will be added to Max on June 7, 2023, fans of the film can start their preparations right now by signing up for HBO Max.
When HBO Max becomes Max on May 23, subscribers to the existing service will immediately have access to the new service, since a portion of users will have their HBO Max apps automatically updated. Some users will have to download the new app, but Max will retain information regarding their HBO Max profiles, watch lists, and current shows. Unfortunately, it seems like Discovery+ subscribers will have to sign up as new customers with Max, with subscription prices starting at $9.99/month for Max Ad-Lite, $15.99/month for Max Ad-Free, and $19.99/month for Max Ultimate Ad-Free — the latter being the only option that allows users to stream in 4K UHD resolution and have four concurrent streams.
As long as you're subscribed to HBO Max or signed up for Max after its launch, fans should have no problems watching "Avatar: The Way of Water" once it finally makes its streaming debut in June.
