Here's Where You Can Stream Every Episode Of The Donkey Kong Country TV Show

Multiple icons were born when Shigeru Miyamoto had the idea to make an arcade game based on Popeye, the sailor man. Nintendo's license for Popeye fell through, so Miyamoto had to develop original characters. This began the ever-present rivalry between Mario and Donkey Kong. In the game, players assume the role of Mario, who has to jump over barrels or smash them with hammers to rescue the princess from the troublesome ape. Mario may be the star of the new animated movie from Illumination, but Donkey Kong is there as well to lend a helping hand. And for anyone wanting to see more of the character, they may be surprised to learn that he actually spearheaded his own animated series in the 1990s.

"Donkey Kong Country" follows the adventures of Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, and the rest of the Kongs as they protect the Crystal Coconut from King K. Rool. There was also a musical component, as each episode featured two songs sung by some of the characters. It definitely offers a stroll down memory lane, both in terms of the content and 3D animation style, but there's actually a pretty easy way to watch all 40 episodes that came out.

Amazon Prime Video has all episodes available for purchase

This Donkey Kong may not sound anything like Seth Rogen, but he at least gets to be the focal point of attention. While the show might seem dated by today's standards, it's essential viewing for anyone who played "Donkey Kong Country" incessantly on the Nintendo 64. The series is also notable for being one of the first to utilize motion capture technology, and elements of the show, like the inclusion of the Crystal Coconut, came into play with the eventual release of "Donkey Kong 64."

It's a great show for kids and old-school gamers alike, and many should be pleased to hear that the entire show is available for purchase on Amazon Prime Video. All 40 episodes are there in standard definition for $1.99 per episode. However, the far better deal is to simply purchase the entire season for $9.99, which gives you access to every single episode.

Of course, if you're merely curious about the show and don't want to invest any money, Tubi and Pluto TV have your back. All episodes are available to watch on those platforms for free. It's not exactly difficult to come by, so whether you watched the show as a kid and want to relive it or are just hearing about it for the first time, there are many avenues to take to partake in a bit of nostalgia.
