Escape Plan 2: Hades Trailer Finally Unveiled
Several years after Escape Plan, the action thriller film starring Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, touched down in theaters, Lionsgate announced a follow-up film — one entitled Escape Plan 2: Hades featuring a cast that doesn't include Schwarzenegger as Austrian banker Emil Rottmayer. Now, the studio has finally lifted the lid off the first bit of footage from the upcoming sequel directed by Steven C. Miller.
The trailer highlights amped up action sequences — including big brawls, tense shootouts, and the classic car chase — and shows that Escape Plan 2: Hades still has a sleek look despite essentially being a rehashing of the original film.
Though Schwarzenegger is missing from the sequel, Stallone reprises his role as structure engineer and genius escape artist Ray Breslin. He's joined by Dave Bautista as Trent DeRosa, Jaime King as Abigail Ross, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson as Hush, and Jesse Metcalfe as Luke Walken. Wes Chatham, Pete Wentz, Tyron Woodley, and Huang Xiaoming round out the cast roster.
Here's what fans can expect from Escape Plan 2: Hades: "Years after he fought his way out of an inescapable prison, Ray Breslin (Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner Sylvester Stallone) has organized a new top-notch security force. But when one of his team members goes missing, Breslin must return to the hell he once escaped from to save his friend from the prison's brutal human battleground known as Hades."
Escape Plan 2: Hades will bypass a traditional theatrical release in the U.S. and launch on Blu-ray, Digital, and On Demand on June 29. The film will debut in U.K. cinemas in July.
