Katrina Law Remembers The First Time NCIS Felt Like A Team
"NCIS" has managed to stay popular with viewers for 20 seasons through devastating losses and even more surprising plot twists. Despite the lineup alterations, the show has demonstrated that regardless of which personas make up the group of Navy crime solvers, they eventually overcome their differences to great success, and actress Katrina Law recalls the first time the new roster truly united as an effective unit.
Joining the ranks of "NCIS" on the small screen is no easy task and requires the right individual to take on such a demanding gig. Nobody knows this better than Law, who had to undergo intense physical training in preparation for playing Special Agent Jessica Knight on the CBS series. But her efforts have seemed to pay off. The series continues to attract big numbers, with over ten million viewers in its 20th season. The actress thinks the true reason behind the show's success is the well-written scripts that result in engaging entries showcasing great chemistry between the characters. But that kind of thing doesn't just happen right from the start, and it can take some time for people to get into a rhythm with one another. This was definitely the case when it came to the post-Mark Harmon era of the show, and Law remembers exactly when the new "NCIS" crew really came together.
It took fighting terroirsts on a boat to bring Parker's NCIS team together
Katrina Law felt that a specific endeavor marked the first time Gary Cole's team leader Alden Parker stuck his neck out for the group that brought everyone together. "My favorite script so far is the one where we are all in a boat. That was the first time post-Gibbs that you saw the team come together to become what we are now," the actress said in the Season 19 DVD extras posted by Parade. "I think that was a huge moment for the show going forward because it showed, 'Yes, we are a team. We care about each other, and, eventually, we are all going to love each other as a dysfunctional little family.”' From the looks of the footage, it seems like she is referring to the episode "All Hands," where the team took on terrorists aboard a civilian research vessel that, according to Law, provided the necessary moments to bond and grow together and the actress couldn't be more delighted to be a part of it all.
When she appeared on The Wayne Ayers Podcast, Law referred to her role on "NCIS" as Special Agent Jessica Knight as a dream job saying, "I cannot describe all the ways in which I love this job, and I love this cast and this crew. And the fans have been so lovely and so welcoming." It's now clear that Law is a fan of being on the "NCIS" team, and considering how the show still draws a robust audience, it's probably safe to assume that fans are thrilled to have the actress on the series as well.
