People Are Loving This Sign That Showed Up In Avengers: Infinity War

Contains spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War

Cheeky nods to movies past, cross-franchise Easter eggs, and pop culture references have become commonplace in films nowadays, and Avengers: Infinity War is no exception. From Okoye (Danai Gurira) mentioning Starbucks to the bald, blue man that's definitely Arrested Development's Tobias Funke walking around in the background of a scene, Infinity War was full of allusions to the world outside itself.

But one reference — a deep-fried, food-related reference — really got fans talking.

In Avengers: Infinity War, there's a scene set in Edinburgh, Scotland, where Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch and Paul Bettany's Vision stand outside a kebab shop and have an intense conversation about the future of their relationship. While the conversation itself was definitely noteworthy (the romance between the two heroes is something special), it's the massive sign behind the pair that has people buzzing.

The sign reads, in all caps as shown here, "WE WILL DEEP FRY YOUR KEBAB," complete with a slab of meat behind the text and a Scottish Saltire flag beneath it. Though the kebab shop was created specifically for Infinity War, the poster promoting the deep-frying capabilities of the tiny restaurant is totally real. Yep, there's an actual place somewhere in Edinburgh, Scotland that will deep fry anyone and everyone's kebab if they so please.

Fans have freaked for the sign, particularly Scottish viewers, who have taken to social media to scream-tweet about seeing a bit of Edinburgh culture in the massive Marvel movie.

"Nothing means more to me than this one specific Infinity War shot," one user wrote accompanying snaps of the poster-featuring scene. Another tweeted, "An important, and somewhat romantic, scene shot in Edinburgh for Infinity War with a poster in the background [that reads] 'We will deep fry your kebab.' [I] f***in' love what Scotland contributes to the world."

Twitter user Liam Turnbull felt similarly, writing, "Class how in Infinity War when they're in Edinburgh you can see a sign in a chippy [restaurant] in the background saying, 'We will deep fry your kebab.' Makes you proper proud to be Scottish, eh." Will Lloyd Roach also tweeted, "So good to see Edinburgh being used to its full potential in the new Infinity War film... Nothing screams 'Scotland' more than a poster in a chippy window stating, 'We'll deep fry your kebabs here.'"

Even non-Scottish moviegoers absolutely love the sign shown in the film. Have a look at the various reactions below.

Now that Edinburgh is officially integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there's a good chance fans might take a trip to the Scottish city to see it for real — and get their kebabs deep-fried.
