New Incredibles 2 Trailer: The Supers Are Back In The Spotlight
Incredible, indeed.
Following a string of teasers, teensy-tiny television spots, and promotional posters, Disney-Pixar has unveiled a brand-new, full-length trailer for Incredibles 2.
The footage opens on an expectedly hilarious note, with Dashiell "Dash" Parr (voiced by Hulk Milner) eager to dive into a plate of egg rolls from a Chinese takeout place and his older sister Violet (Sarah Howell) stopping him before he can gobble them all up. "Did you wash your hands? With soap? Did you dry them?" the moody teen asks Dash as he races back and forth between the bathroom, his hunger only growing tenfold with each trip. After finally scoring one of the deep-fried appetizers (after shaking his wet hands all over them), Dash has a fit about his mother, Helen (Holly Hunter), ordering an entire carton of vegetables. But Violet turns her attention to a more pressing matter: the "elephant in the room" that is Helen's new job.
The hotly anticipated sequel sees Helen and Bob Parr (Craig T. Nelson) swap both superhero posts and household duties. The former suits up as Elastigirl to bring an end to the evil Underminer (John Ratzenberger), while the latter temporarily retires his Mr. Incredible moniker to become Mr. Mom, staying at home with the endlessly angsty Violet, the rambunctious (and clearly vegetable-averse) Dash, and baby Jack-Jack, whose powers are only growing by the minute. Can Helen keep the city streets safe sans-family, and can Bob ever figure out how to help Dash with his math homework? We'll have to wait and see.
In the meantime, check out the new trailer in the video above, and take a look at the new Incredibles 2 poster below.
Incredibles 2 will pick up right where the beloved 2004 original left off. Voice actress Holly Hunter previously explained that the film will also unlock a "real incredible sense of competitiveness and ambition" in Elastigirl as her passion for crime-fighting and her "appetite for adventure comes to the fore." She added, "She throws down the gauntlet in this one. It's so much fun to see a woman luxuriating in those two arenas, because women have for so many generations been brought up to not be ambitious or to not be competitive, and it's fun to see Helen basking in those two arenas in much the same way that we give men license to do."
Written and directed by Brad Bird (Iron Giant, The Incredibles), Incredibles 2 also features Samuel L. Jackson as Lucius Best (better known as Frozone), Bob Odenkirk as Winston Deavor, Jonathan Banks as Rick Dicker, Catherine Keener as Evelyn Deavor, Sophia Bush as Voyd, and Isabella Rossellini as The Ambassador. Bird reprises his voice role as Edna Mode, the iconic fashion designer and friend to the Parr family.
Here's the official synopsis for the film: "In Incredibles 2, Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) navigates the day-to-day heroics of 'normal' life at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell), Dash (voice of Huck Milner), and baby Jack-Jack — whose superpowers are about to be discovered. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don't shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) by their side. That's what makes this family so Incredible."
Incredibles 2 is slated for a June 15 release.
