Deadpool 2 All-Ages Trailer Changes One Hilarious Joke

Deadpool 2 isn't exactly a family-friendly superhero movie unless your family only communicates using four-letter words. But that didn't stop the folks at 20th Century Fox from cleaning up the latest trailer for an all-ages (or "green band") version.

The new trailer is mostly the same as the one released last week except for the addition of a handy recap of the first movie tossed in at the beginning. But if you've already memorized every word of the trailer, you'll notice that one joke is completely different.

It comes at the end when Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) is talking to his faithful cab driver Dopinder (Karan Soni). In the adults-only trailer, Deadpool says, "And that is why Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is pure pornography."

In the all-ages trailer, the joke is altered to this: "And that is why the man bun is just a millennial mullet."

The original joke works in part because it's more of Reynolds trolling his wife, Blake Lively, who starred in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants back in 2005. But one of the benefits of Deadpool's mask for director David Leitch is that we can't ever see what Reynolds is actually saying, presumably making it easy for last-minute changes and alternate takes. It's a good sign that there will be plenty of unused jokes left for the Blu-ray.

However, the family-friendly trailer definitely isn't as popular as the red band version. As of the morning of March 27, the red band trailer had more than 26 million views while the green band version had less than 1,000. Clearly, everyone likes Deadpool with no holds barred.

We'll find out which take on the joke ends up in the final cut when Deadpool 2, co-starring Josh Brolin, Zazie Beetz, and freaking Terry Crews, hits theaters on May 18.
