Fans Thank Cecily Strong For A Decade Of Laughter As She Bids Farewell To SNL

Cecily Strong, who has been a part of the "Saturday Night Live" cast since 2012, announced that she is leaving the cast after a decade of impersonations, original skits, and goofs.

The actress is known for her many impressions and original characters, including Cathy Anne, Weekend Update host Michael Che's wacky neighbor, the British singer Gemma, and the self-explanatory Girl You Wish You Hadn't Started a Conversation with at a Party, among many others.

On the side of impressions, she has done hilarious impersonations of celebrities, including that of Fox News host Judge Jeanine Pirro (with a lot more wine-throwing), Liz Cheney, Melania Trump, Khloe Kardashian, John Bolton, and more. Strong has truly shown her strength in stepping into the roles of real and fictitious people with apparent ease to hysterical results.

With the iconic cast member stepping down from her decade-long role in the cast, fans have expressed their sadness at Strong's departure and their appreciation for her many great performances over the years.

Fans of Cecily Strong express their gratitude for her many iconic roles on SNL

With Cecily Strong leaving the cast, fans have jumped on Twitter to thank her for a decade of much-needed humor.

Twitter user @kevinddaly tweeted, "Thanks for the laughs, Cecily Strong," alongside a video of the actress in her role of Judge Jeanine Pirro stepping into a tub of "White Girl Wasted" boxed wine, which she then scoops up through her glass and repeatedly hurls at Colin Jost while singing "My Way." Although the skit was part of 2021's season, it feels like an appropriate send-off to Strong and her beloved characters and impressions.

One fan, @janh00ks, created an edit of some of Strong's most iconic performances, writing, "to our queen mother cecily strong, for being the backbone of the show for the last 11 years." Another fan, @onlyangeleah, tweeted a video of Strong goofing with Timothée Chalamet, writing, "cecily strong thank you for everything that you have done for us i will miss you deeply."

For those who want to see more of Strong, the actress currently stars in the musical comedy "Schmigadoon!", which can be found on Apple TV+.
