1923 Fans Are Picking Their Jaws Up Off The Floor After An Amazing Premiere

Paramount+ is officially going all in on the "Yellowstone" franchise. The Western drama continues to grow, with more and more spinoffs coming to the studio's streaming service. The latest spin-off, "1923," is another prequel series that brings even more prominent names to the "Yellowstone" universe with Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford.

"1923" opens up forty years after the first prequel series, "1883," with Ford's Jacob Dutton and Mirren's Cara Dutton struggling to maintain their cattle and land. The show quickly sets up the hard times plaguing the family, including land disputes, ranch wars, and prohibition-era issues. "1923" is off to a hot start, including many storylines that set up future conflicts in both this series and "Yellowstone." Paramount+ even gave fans a mysterious storyline following a World War I veteran hunting in Africa who's there to kill a massive leopard. After one episode, the storylines seem wildly disconnected, but it'll be interesting to see how they unravel as the series continues.

"1923" is off to a strong start for Taylor Sheridan's latest "Yellowstone" series. The show currently holds a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with many critics calling it a solid start to a new spin-off.  The San Francisco Chronicle said that, if it nails its landing, "1923" could see "Yellowstone" levels of popularity. Variety highlighted Mirren and Ford's performances and chemistry as the reason to start watching. However, more important than the critical consensus, fans also love the latest series.

Fans want more 1923 as soon as possible

Taylor Sheridan definitely has the fans behind him for his latest "Yellowstone" spin-off, "1923." With just one episode down, audiences have already seen more than enough to be on board for all of the show's storylines, no matter how gruesome.

Following the series premiere, fans took to Twitter to express their admiration for the Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren-led spin-off. Similar to critics, @_thegoodonesgo praised the two stars' performances, saying, "Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford are bringing their A-game in this acting thing. So are the supporting actors. We're in for a treat with this series!" @SoonerKoeWetzel had a similar take, stating that the legendary actors gave excellent performances in Episode 1 and predicting the show to continue its hot streak. Other users focused on how it didn't take long at all for them to fall in love with "1923." Both @mikasuchil and @prettysmilejj expressed that it only took one episode, but they love what they're seeing from the spin-off.

@lesssgill even went so far as to claim that, after only one episode, "1923" is already better than "Yellowstone," which is deep into its fifth season. Meanwhile, @RuneKxngThor and @GIGACHAD2021 gave credit where credit is due, praising what Sheridan has done with both "Yellowstone" spin-offs. "1923" has clearly captured audiences' attention, so let's hope the series maintains its level of storytelling throughout the season.
