Wakanda Forever Fans Can't Get Enough Of Okoye And Attuma's Brutal Bridge Fight

Contains spoilers for "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever."

"Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" is an action-packed and fitting tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman. The film homages the original Black Panther while simultaneously exploring the exciting characters introduced in the first film. Among these heroes, beloved warrior Okoye (Danai Gurira) shines as a valiant protector of Princess Shuri (Letitia Wright) and the nation of Wakanda.

Famously known for her formidable role as Michonne on "The Walking Dead," Gurira brings a similar fierceness to Okoye. In "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," Okoye embarks on an important mission with the princess to save a young scientist. This puts them at odds with the elusive Atlanteans led by Namor (Tenoch Huerta), bringing war to the gates of Wakanda. In a jaw-dropping move, Namor floods the kingdom with devastating and irreversible results.

Okoye's character journey in "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" is exhilarating and moving as she navigates her purpose and new identity. She encounters deadly new foes, particularly a challenging and strong Atlantean, which fans unanimously applaud. The fearsomeness of her enemy puts Okoye in her toughest fight yet, shaking her and the audience to their core.

Fans are loving Danai Gurira's riveting performance

Okoye showcases her battle prowess in a stunning scene fans can't get enough of. Reddit threads are ablaze with viewers awe-struck by a particularly intricate and incredible fight scene. The fierce General of the Dora Milaje nearly gives her life to protect Princess Shuri in one of the film's most tense and gripping sequences. She battles the towering and unforgiving Attuma (Alex Livinalli) on a bridge over troubled water as the Atlanteans attempt to abduct Riri Williams, aka Ironheart (Dominique Thorne).

Okoye's skills with a spear are astonishing as she effortlessly fends off three Atlantean warriors on her own. She spins the blade deflecting and landing hits as smooth as water. Okoye then needs to unleash her full strength when approached by Attuma's large stature. On a Reddit discussion thread, fans commend the powerful scene.

One user, u/SpeedForce2022, claims, "Attuma vs Okoye on the bridge is one of the greatest fight scenes in MCU history imo [in my opinion]. The end definitely set up Attuma and Namor's feud." Fellow Redditor u/Kryyzz supports this and adds Gurira's compelling performance makes the moment even more memorable: "Danai really sold that scene. Knowing she was no match for him, but still fighting because she had no other way out. You could see the defeat in her eyes even as she kept going."

Fans agree Okoye held her own even though she was outmatched

Okoye displays her outstanding abilities in a bloodthirsty face-off with Attuma. Their similar weapons parallel the two even further as they exert their full force to combat one another. Fans are surprised and engrossed by the brutality of the scene, which pushes each opponent to their limits. One moment specifically had fans shocked when Attuma ends the fight on a crushing note.

Reddit user u/woahwoahvicky points out, "Seeing ridiculously powerful characters give it all they got and still get beat the f*** up is such a tense moment. The Dora could easily wipe the Winter Soldier if they wanted to and Okoye is the best of them... And Attuma just broke her arm in half for fun. That crack made the whole theater wince." This distinctive intensity made the sequence stand out even more, which u/Uncanny_Doom expresses, "Banger scene. My theater was tense as f*** and I think it went a long way because we know how skilled Okoye is as well, so seeing her fighting uphill and truly challenged? Just great stuff. Everyone always says the stakes don't feel high in most of these movies but you felt like certain characters may be dying at several points."

These instances culminate in the unflinching battle we see on-screen that cements "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" as a thrilling sequel fans are certainly loving.
