Netflix's 2022 TUDUM Event Gives Us A Taste Of Bridgerton Season 3's First Scene
When "Bridgerton" premiered on Netflix back in 2020, the Regency-era romance became an instant success for the streaming platform. Based on the books by Julia Quinn and developed for the screen by Chris Van Dusen, the first season chronicles the romance between Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page), even though the former vowed to never marry him early on. But who was she trying to kid?
Season 2, meanwhile, centers around Daphne's older brother — and the eldest Bridgerton — Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) as he sets out to find his own happily ever after. The charmer originally sets his sights on Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran), only to end up falling in love with her sister Kate (Simone Ashley) instead.
The upcoming third season of "Bridgerton" will continue the trend of basing each season on a new love story and putting the actors in dashing costumes. But if you can't wait for the new episodes to arrive, you'll be pleased to know that the streamer has provided a snippet of what fans can expect from the upcoming season.
Bridgerton Season 3 teases big things for Penelope
Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) quite clearly have the hots for each other. In fact, their romance is one of the main storylines fans want to see in "Bridgerton" Season 3. But will it happen? This year's Netflix TUDUM event gave viewers a tease of what to expect from the third season's first episode, and it seems that Penelope will have an important role to play.
Coughlan revealed that the first episode will be titled "Out of the Shadows" before reading a passage from the script. "As the season begins, the question on everyone's minds is, of course, which newly minted debutante will shine the brightest. The crop this year appears to be dazzling indeed. Unfortunately, not every young lady can attract the light."
While she didn't reveal who the "debutante" is, Coughlan's demeanor made it clear that her character will take center stage next season.
