See The Dark Concept Art For Netflix's Sabrina The Teenage Witch Series

Netflix is heading into the woods for its upcoming series based on the Archie Comic The Chilling Adventures of SabrinaRiverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who is also the mind behind the new series, teased the show with some first look at a piece concept art on his Twitter Thursday, hinting at an intense take on the popular character.

The glimpse doesn't reveal much about the show, which is set to provide a dark origin story for Sabrina the Teenage Witch, set in Riverdale's neighboring town of Greendale. The show follows Sabrina as she tries to balance being half-witch and half-mortal while fighting against the evil forces threatening her, her family, and the world.

The show was initially put into development at The CW in September, but it was later moved to Netflix with a two-season, 20-episode order. It's unclear if the show will still exist in the same universe as Riverdale, but we should learn more soon, as the writer's room is already in place. The first series of episodes are set to film from February to June, while the second will film from June to October.

The Age of Adaline's Lee Toland Krieger is on board to direct the show, which will be executive produced by Aguirre-Sacasa, Krieger, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater. The show does not have a premiere date yet, but you can view the new concept art below.
