Jessica Jones Season 2 Premiere Date Revealed
Warning: This article contains spoilers for season one of Marvel's Jessica Jones.
The liquor-loving, leather jacket-wearing private investigator is back to resolve some unfinished business, so try not to get in her way.
Netflix announced Saturday that the second season of Marvel's Jessica Jones will launch on March 8, 2018. Like the first season of the neo-noir superhero series, the second will consist of 13 hour-long episodes created under showrunner Melissa Rosenberg.
The streaming service confirmed the premiere date with a minute-long teaser, which shows Krysten Ritter's titular Jessica Jones slinging her signature outerwear over her (equally as ubiquitous) black tank top as she stomps the New York City streets to snap shots of those whose lives she's looking into.
But now, Jessica's line of work isn't what she's most known for. After murdering her abusive tormenter Kilgrave (David Tennant) last season, she's gained a reputation for being a super-powered killer. Jessica rattles off the list of questions she's gotten used to receiving after word of her crime spread throughout the city: "Who are you? What are you? How did you end up like this? Are you gonna kill me?"
Rachael Taylor's Trish Walker makes an appearance mid-way through the clip to offer Jessica an important suggestion: "Knowing what was done to you might help you." Jessica admits her worries, saying, "What if facing it makes me worse? I've already killed someone."
The teaser is set to Heat's 1977 hit "Barracuda," and closes with Jessica quipping that if someone quotes the famous Spider-Man line, "With great power comes great responsibility," she'll vomit. Classic Jones.
Star Ritter previously explained that the second season of Jessica Jones will feature her character in "a pretty dark headspace" when audiences first see her, and that the storyline is "very personal." She added, "If season one was in her head and in her mind, then this season will be more in her heart. It's still a psychological thriller, but it's more of an emotional thriller this time."
Arrow actor J.R. Ramirez joins the series as the superintendent of Jessica's building, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse actress Leah Gibson will appear as a street-wise nurse, and Academy Award-nominated actress Janet McTeer is set to star in a yet-to-be-disclosed role. Mike Colter's Luke Cage, Wil Traval's Will Simpson, Carrie-Anne Moss's Jeri Hograth, and Eka Darville's Malcolm Ducasse are expected to return for season two.
Raella Tucker (True Blood), Jim Chory (Marvel's Daredevil, Marvel's Iron Fist, Marvel's Luke Cage), and Marvel head honcho Jeph Loeb executive produce.
Marvel's Jessica Jones will return to Netflix on March 8, 2018.
