Jeffrey Tambor May Not Leave Transparent After All

Despite allegations of sexual harassment, Jeffrey Tambor might actually return to Transparent in season 5.

It all began when Tambor's former assistant (who herself is transgender) made claims that were corroborated by series star Trace Lysette. Tambor then issued a statement saying, "I don't see how I can return," which many interpreted as confirmation that the Emmy-winning actor had resigned from the show.

But "a representative" for Tambor told The New York Times that "Mr. Tambor had no plans to quit."

Publicist Allan Mayer offered a more extensive explanation in the wake of more accusations from makeu partist Tamara Delbridge. "What he said was that given the toxic atmosphere and the politicization on the set, it's very hard for him to see how he can possibly return. But no final decision for next year has been made, either by Jeffrey or by Amazon."

When the investigation began, series creator Jill Soloway declined to comment on the claims against Tambor, but she now says, "I take what Van Barnes and Trace Lysette are saying very seriously."

As of now, season 5 is reportedly in "agonizing limbo" as the creators "find themselves trying to construct a fifth season that may or may not include their central character."
