Why Mike From
Hocus Pocus 2
Looks So Familiar
By NIKKI MUNOZ
Nearly three decades after the release of the iconic Halloween movie "Hocus Pocus," a sequel is finally making its way to viewers' screens, "Hocus Pocus 2." Mike, played by Froy Gutierrez, is a new addition to the cast, and the actor might look familiar to some audience members.
Gutierrez — who has been acting since 2015 — had a four-episode arc on Season 1 of the Netflix sitcom "One Day at a Time." He portrayed the character of Josh Flores, a classmate of the protagonist's daughter, and he said he was grateful to get the opportunity to play a Latinx character
on a show run by Latinx people.
Gutierrez played the role of lacrosse player Nolan Holloway in Season 6 of the supernatural teen drama "Teen Wolf." Getting cast on "Teen Wolf" was somewhat of a surreal experience for Gutierrez, because so many of his friends had been ardently watching the series since Season 1.
In "Cruel Summer," a teen drama about a girl who goes missing, Gutierrez plays the role of the boyfriend of the kidnapped girl. Talking about the show, Gutierrez said while he was hooked on the script, he "was terrified to do it, and usually, if you're terrified to do something, that's when you know you gotta try it out."
