Why Ice-T Was Once Arrested On His Way To Film Law And Order: SVU

By KAT BLACK

Ice-T’s Detective Odafin "Fin" Tutuola has become a fan-favorite on "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit." Even though the role has brought Ice-T accolades and highlighted his acting chops, it did not come to his aid in 2018 when he was arrested en route to set.

Ice-T described the arrest in a 2019 interview with TV Insider, saying that he went through a toll booth on the George Washington Bridge without his EZ pass card. He also added that the cops could have just written him a ticket but instead “went a little extra” and had him arrested.

Anyone who has followed Ice-T’s career knows that the rapper and actor has complicated feelings about the police. In 1992, he released the polarizing track “Cop Killer,” and he continues to be outspoken about racism and police brutality in America, releasing the song "No Lives Matter" in 2017.
