One of Wallace Shawn's most notable appearances was in the critically acclaimed film, “My Dinner With Andre.” Shawn and French theatre director Andre Gregory played fictionalized versions of themselves who discuss, over dinner, a variety of topics, including existentialism, the meaning of life, and the children's novella "The Little Prince."

Perhaps Wallace Shawn's most memorable role is Vizzini in "The Princess Bride." Widely considered one of the best movies ever made, the film cemented Shawn as one of the funniest character actors of the '80s.

Shawn appeared in “Star Trek’s” fourth series “Deep Space Nine” as Zek, the leader of the Ferengi Alliance. As the Grand Nagu/leader of the species, Zek found himself navigating the tough intergalactic world of politics with grace, only to suffer from a failing memory in his later years.

In 1995, Shawn starred in the hit ‘90s teen movie “Clueless” where he played Mr. Wendall Hall, a teacher who gives the lead character Cher a bad grade. In a bid to up her grades, Cher hatches a plan to make Hall fall in love with the lonely, but loveable, Miss Geist.

Shawn appeared in “Gossip Girl” as Cyrus Rose, the stepfather to Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), who notably wed Chuck (Ed Westwick) in the show's final season. The character recently returned in the "Gossip Girl" reboot, which currently streams on HBO Max.
