The success of “The Blair Witch Project” spawned a sequel, “Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2,” where Jeffrey Donovan appeared as a guide with a questionable past. The movie fell far short of recapturing the original’s magic, leading Donovan to admit, “I can only do the best work I can and see if people like it.”

In “Hitch,” Will Smith stars as a “date doctor” who helps nice men navigate the dating world, but Donovan’s character, Vance Munson, a powerful Wall Street businessman, wants the doctor’s help for a one-night stand. Even though the doctor turns him down in epic fashion, Munson still achieves his goal.

Donovan played former CIA agent Michael Westen in the USA television series “Burn Notice” for 111 episodes. Donovan was beloved as the character for his commitment to the realism of being a secret agent — even training in the off-season. “It’s really important that I keep it authentic,” the actor said.

Even among the talented cast of “Sicario,” which included Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin, and Benecio Del Toro, Donovan managed to stand out as Steve Forsing, a CIA black-ops agent. The actor revealed that he and the other stars did their own stunts, explaining that he jumped out of a helicopter.

With a larger-than-life presence and the mysterious circumstances surrounding his death, John F. Kennedy has inspired numerous movies, documentaries, and miniseries. Donovan actually portrayed a Kennedy in two movies: President Kennedy in “LBJ” and his brother, Robert, in "J. Edgar."
