One of Amber Heard’s most high-profile roles to date has been Aquaman’s love interest, Mera, but she has already admitted that her role in “Aquaman 2” has been reduced. The sequel is not even out yet but fans of the "Aquaman" franchise have already begun a campaign to replace Heard.
A petition posted by a fan that called for Heard to be replaced by Blake Lively gathered more than 11,000 signatures. Lively previously did appear in "Green Lantern," and would be making a similar jump across the borders of DC's extended universe as Chris Evans did when he crossed MCU boundaries, appearing in "Fantastic Four" before taking up the shield of Captain America.
Comic book enthusiasts have suggested that it would be a better idea to replace the character altogether. The “Aquaman” franchise could simply demote Mera, and Lively or a different actress could play Aquaman's other famous love interest, Dolphin, instead.
