Wednesday Addams Series Confirms An Addams Family Icon Is Joining

By NIKKI MUNOZ

The cast of Netflix’s “Wednesday,” which includes Jenna Ortega as the titular character and Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, just got another exciting addition. Christina Ricci, who played Wednesday in “The Addams Family” and its sequel, “Addams Family Values,” has joined the show.

Ricci will not be playing an older version of Wednesday, but will play a new character that will be kept a secret. All that we know is her character will be similar to Wednesday’s dorm mother character, Tamara Novak, that was originally going to be portrayed by Thora Birch until she had to drop out due to personal reasons.

The live action “Wednesday” series is described as a coming-of-age comedy that will follow Wednesday as a teenager who is attending Nevermore Academy and honing her psychic abilities. It is written by Al Gough and Miles Millar, the creators of "Smallville," and is helmed by Tim Burton in his first TV directing gig.
