Halloween classic “Hocus Pocus” is getting a sequel almost 30 years after the first movie's release. In “Hocus Pocus 2,” Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker resume their roles as the Sandersons sisters, who will seek revenge for their vanquishing at the end of the first film; the sequel debuts on Disney+ on September 30, 2022.

1994's offbeat workplace comedy “Clerks” is a cult classic that launched writer-director Kevin Smith’s career, and he released “Clerks 2” in 2006. The inspiration for the upcoming “Clerks 3” is wild even by Smith's standards — he had a heart attack in 2019, which inspired him to write the threequel that will premiere in September of 2022.

2007's “Enchanted” seemed to have a fairytale ending, but the story will actually continue in the sequel “Disenchanted,” which debuts on Disney+ on November 24, 2022. The upcoming film picks up 15 years after the original, and follows Giselle as she moves into the suburbs with her family; stars Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey will reprise their roles.

Rian Johnson's subversive murder mystery “Knives Out” did so well, the director quickly let audiences know that he's working on not one, but two sequels. The first of these, “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,” is set to air on Netflix during the 2022 holiday season, and features an ensemble cast much like its predecessor.

After thirteen years, James Cameron is following through on his promise of an “Avatar” sequel. “Avatar: The Way of Water” hits theaters on December 16, 2022, and like its predecessor, the movie uses advanced filmmaking technology — specifically, to film underwater — and Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana reprise their roles.
