The long-running film franchise has been given a vicious new lease of life under director Christopher McQuarrie, who has opted for an overarching story spanning multiple films. Although photos and videos from the "Mission: Impossible 7" set have steadily been leaked online over the last few years, now Paramount has delivered its first official footage.
McQuarrie’s sprawling story from "Rogue Nation" spilled over into 2018's "Fallout" and characters like Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson) have returned. It'll be interesting to see how "Fallout" affects the new film since Ferguson is back for the sequel alongside Vanessa Kirby as Alanna Mitsopolis.
Production was hit with numerous delays thanks to the ongoing pandemic and Cruise made headlines in 2020 when audio leaked of his angry rant at two crew members who broke COVID-19 protocols on set. It is too soon to tell if the stressful production paid off, but the trailer certainly promises yet another high-octane adventure for Ethan Hunt and his fellow agents.
