Since its debut in 2007, “Ice Road Truckers” proved to be one of History Channel’s most successful shows, due to its likable cast members and their dangerous exploits. One popular star was Alex Debogorski, a tough-as-nails driver, with over 40 years experience as an ice trucker, but who still nearly had a perilous accident while on the show.
In the Season 9 finale, "Icy Alliance," Debogorski is seen racing against the melting ice to deliver his last haul of the season before, at a blind curb, a 20-ton tanker coming the opposite way nearly collides with Debogorski's truck. Both drivers managed to apply their brakes in time to avoid a full-on collision, with the tanker merely sideswiping Debogorski's truck.
A few lucky breaks prevented the accident from being much worse, namely the fact the two drivers were not going fast enough to cause a severe accident and that the tanker was empty, as the presence of fuel would have likely caused a fire. It seems that Debogorski, at least based on his Instagram, has still been trucking — impressive since he’s now over 80 years old.
