Australian actor Joel Edgerton stars in “Thirteen Lives,” but you probably know him from “Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones” and “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.” Edgerton revives his role as Owen Lars in the Disney+ miniseries “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and gives his thanks and appreciation to “Star Wars” and George Lucas for significantly impacting his life.
During an interview with Looper, Edgerton explained that there were “quite a lot” of differences between starring in the “Star Wars” prequels and “Obi-Wan Kenobi” due to being in different stages of his career. He said, “One of my first sort of jobs on a big movie was doing the initial prequels, and I was nervous. It was also my first job working on an American production.”
When Edgerton was asked to return to the role of Owen Lars as a “middle-aged guy,” the actor said, “there was never a question of not returning because [...] I owe a lot of the reason I'm sitting here today to being in those initial prequels.” He added, “I'll always thank George Lucas [...] because it really changed the course of my life in many ways.”
