Actor Dakota Johnson stars in "Madame Web," the fourth spin-off of Sony's Spider-Man Universe, as Cassie Webb, a New York paramedic with psychic abilities.

Johnson excitedly tagged Marvel Studios in an Instagram post announcing her casting, but Marvel Studios has no involvement with the film. The post has since been taken down.

Sydney Sweeney stars alongside Johnson in "Madame Web," and she also accidentally tagged Marvel Studios in an Instagram post about her casting as Julia Cornwall.

Despite the mix-up, the actress remains hopeful to be involved in the MCU moving forward. She told Variety she wants her character to join the massive movie franchise.

"Morbius" was the meme of the year in 2022 for a myriad of reasons, and actor Tyrese Gibson was a bit too confident in proclaiming that the film was part of the MCU.

When asked by ComicBook if "Morbius" was part of the MCU, Gibson gave a definitive yes. Sony Pictures then intervened and said that the film was not connected to the MCU.

When he was cast in "Morbius," Matt Smith reached out to actress Karen Gillan, who played Nebula in the MCU, to see if she liked working with Marvel Studios.

However, while Gillan was in the Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers movies within the MCU, she hasn't stepped foot on the set of a Sony-Marvel production like "Morbius."

In the post-credits scenes in both "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" and "Spider-Man: No Way Home," Tom Hardy's Venom interacts with the world of Tom Holland's

Spider-Man.

Based on the scenes, it appears that Marvel will only keep the Venom symbiote in the mix instead of Hardy’s character, but the actor remains optimistic that he will be in the MCU.
