"Young Sheldon" — a series about the early days of Sheldon Cooper before he
was a celebrated theoretical physicist — is one of CBS' most popular sitcoms. However, not many people remember that entrepreneur and inventor Elon Musk
made an appearance in an early episode
of the series.
A NASA scientist visits Sheldon's school in Season 1, Episode 6, titled "A Patch, a Modem, and a Zantac," and the young genius suggests that instead of dropping booster rockets into the ocean, NASA can save millions of dollars by landing the rockets vertically. When his idea is dismissed, Sheldon concocts a formula that makes his theory viable.
The episode then cuts to a broadcast of SpaceX successfully landing a booster rocket vertically nearly three decades later. Following this, viewers see the SpaceX headquarters, where founder Elon Musk stealthily looks through Sheldon's old notebook with his theoretical formula and then hides it in his office drawer.
