Veteran actor Richard Kind needs no introduction, thanks to his film, television, stage, and voice work. Fans might remember him from the CBS sitcom "Young Sheldon," where he played Ira Rosenbloom — a furniture store owner and love interest to Sheldon's Meemaw — in three episodes of the show.
Kind’s character first appeared in Season 1, Episode 11 ("Demons, Sunday School, and Prime Numbers") to teach Sheldon about Judaism at the behest of Meemaw. While Ira fails to satisfy Sheldon's curiosity, he piques the young boy’s interest by mentioning the fact that Jewish actors played Kirk and Spock in the "Star Trek" franchise.
Kind returned in Season 1, Episode 22 ("Vanilla Ice Cream, Gentleman Callers, and a Dinette Set"), which focuses on the love triangle of Meemaw, Ira, and Dr. Sturgis. After much meddling from Sheldon, Meemaw ultimately breaks Ira's heart and chooses to be with Dr. Sturgis, played by Wallace Shawn.
In Season 3, Episode 5 ("A Pineapple and the Bosom of Male Friendship"), Dr. Sturgis ends his relationship with Meemaw and suggests that she get back together with Ira. However, in what was his third and last appearance on the show to date, Ira also turns her down, not wanting to be anyone's second choice.
