The Wild Amount
Of Weight Hayden
Christensen Put
On For Obi-Wan
Kenobi
By BRANDON SHOAFF

THIS STORY CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR the disney+ "Obi-Wan Kenobi" limited series.

SPOILER WARNING!

Hayden Christensen is known as Anakin Skywalker in the "Star Wars" prequels, while James Earl Jones has always provided the voice of Darth Vader. In the "Obi-Wan" series, both actors resume their shared role; even more surprisingly, Christensen volunteered to act inside the Darth Vader suit, and even packed on extra weight in order to do so.
Christensen does share the Darth Vader suit with two stuntmen, but the star doesn't take the role any less seriously for it. In an interview with Fatherly, Christensen said he knew he "needed to become that character again, physically. I just consumed as many calories as possible. I put on 25 or 30 pounds to fill out that [Darth Vader] suit."
Christensen's hard work definitely paid off in one of the greatest moments in "Obi-Wan," in which Vader's helmet is cracked and both Christensen's and James Earl Jones' voices are heard together. This bridged a gap between the "Star Wars" prequels and original films, and gave fans a chance to hear both Vader actors at the same time.
