The Seinfeld
Episode That
Made Jerry
Seinfeld 'Very
Uncomfortable'
By PATRICK PHILLIPS
"Seinfeld" turned the most mundane bits of day-to-day life into comedy fodder, making even the funniest episodes a touch uncomfortable for anyone. Even Jerry Seinfeld himself was not immune to that effect, with the star admitting there was one episode of the iconic series that just didn't sit right with him.
In the episode entitled "The Alternate Side," Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfuss) dates an older man named Owen (Edward Penn), who has a stroke just as Elaine is trying to break up with him. This leaves elaine feeding the wheel-chair-bound Owen, which is the cringe-worthy scene Seinfeld has referenced.
"I felt very uncomfortable with that episode,” the comedian admitted. Even if the scene is cringeworthy, the actors and writers still find room for a laugh with Elaine’s “Yankee Bean” song — which is as vintage a "Seinfeld" gag as you'll find.
