Michael Richards, who played Kramer on “Seinfeld,” is known for his physical comedy and erratic, jerky movements, making him a highly recognized name in comedy. In one episode of the series' 3rd season, however, his over-the-top acting left him bleeding while they were shooting on a makeshift set.
Season 3, Episode 6, "The Parking Garage," finds the four misanthropic heroes of "Seinfeld" lost in a parking garage, which had to be built as a set. The shooting hours for the episode went long into the night, making the cast almost too exhausted to move, especially Richards, who requested that he carry a real 80-pound air conditioner to make his exhaustion more believable.
The incident came at the end of the episode, as the gang finds their car and Kramer goes to place the air conditioner in the trunk, but Richards wanted to do this in Kramer's awkward, rigid mannerisms. In the blooper, Richards fell onto the air conditioner with his full weight, slamming his lip on the edge and splitting it instantly, causing the fatigued cast to burst out laughing.
